Water-Lily (静生百慧)

Two great powers: the Chinese fine jewellery designer Jin Qiya from LAETITIA, and one of the leading international jewellery master - Viktor Moiseikin, proudly present their first collaborative project to art lovers - an exquisite Emerald Water-Lily Brooch, as a celebration of international aesthetics and craftsmanship. Jin Qiya, a jewellery artist who is inspired by Chinese calligraphy and ink painting, had been waiting for an opportunity to tell her story about water-lilies, the symbol of peace and kindness in the Chinese culture, since young. When she met Viktor Moiseikin, the unique ‘risk-taker’ in the jewellery industry who is never limited by previous definitions, the two decided to co-design an Emerald Water-Lily Brooch, first time from the Eastern and Western perspectives. To create an artwork of water-lilies, it is inevitable to learn from the iconic painting ‘the Water-lily Pond’ of the French titan of Impressionism, Claude Monet. On the Brooch, Jin Qiya was inspired to arrange the carved pedals of water-lilies inlaid with the curvy yet strong brushstrokes of Chinese calligraphy. Layers of sapphires and diamonds are used to depict the beauty of water lilies in the sunlight, as a tribute to the freehand technique of Chinese painting. On the opposite side, Viktor Moiseikin challenged to use the calm water lilies as a vehicle to vent his burning passion in life. To add a modern touch of art, he contributed his invention of the patented stone-setting technology, Waltzing Brilliance®, to the Brooch. Each diamond, though being the hardest stone in the world, can now move 360° to show the softness of feminine beauty and spark the wisdom of the inventor. On the wearer, the extra brilliance of diamonds can set her vibrant yet tranquil charm off. She shines like an angel of water-lilies. The enormous Emerald on the pistil of water-lilies is the key of the work. The difference of the Emerald's square cut and the winding silhouette of pedals illustrates the ultimate Chinese philosophy - Yin and yang. The contrast of statics and dynamics, with the Buddhist intelligence from concentration, are taught in this cultural exchange of art.
